Massage Aftercare Advice
To help you get the most from your treatment and minimise any
post-treatment soreness, please follow these simple recommendations:
Stay hydrated
Drink water throughout the day after your treatment. While massage does not "flush toxins" from the body, staying well hydrated supports your normal bodily functions and overall wellbeing.
Keep moving
Gentle movement, such as walking or light stretching, can help maintain mobility and reduce stiffness. Avoid remaining sedentary for long periods.
Avoid strenuous exercise
If possible, avoid intense physical activity for 24 hours after your treatment, especially if deep tissue techniques were used.
Expect some tenderness
It is normal to experience mild soreness or tenderness for up to 24–48 hours following treatment, similar to delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). This should gradually improve.
Use heat or ice if needed
Depending on your symptoms, a warm bath, heat pack, or cold pack may help ease discomfort. Your therapist will advise which is most appropriate for your individual condition.
Listen to your body
If you feel tired after your treatment, allow yourself time to rest and recover. Everyone responds differently to massage.
Follow your rehabilitation plan
If you have been given stretches, strengthening exercises, or postural advice, following these recommendations will help maximise the benefits of your treatment.
Monitor your symptoms
If you experience severe pain, numbness, significant swelling, dizziness, or any symptoms that concern you after treatment, please contact your therapist or seek appropriate medical advice.
